Biscuit eludes dog

Sophie the bloodhound couldn’t find Biscuit.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that Biscuit is still missing.

Biscuit is a friendly, sturdy, neutered Siamese/tabby mix with blue eyes and a white-tipped tail who wanderd off from his home at 230 Pearson (the corner of Tacoma), Nov. 3. He was last seen at the Wright Inn, a bed and breakfast two doors up Pearson.

Lydia Paddock and Gail Forsyth, Biscuit’s human companions, hired Sophie the Pet-Finding Bloodhound to track down their missing buddy. On Thursday afternoon Sophie sniffed some of Biscuit’s personal effects and meandered about the yard, the cat’s home territory being understandably well-scented, before heading out into the surrounding neighborhood.

Forsyth told me, “At least we did not find a little dead cat on our search, so that at least is a bit of peace of mind.” She explained that Biscuit is fond of the neighboring B&B and has often turned up sleeping on the bed of the honeymoon suite. “He climbs into cars, too,” Forsyth said. “Once a couple didn’t discover him until they arrived in Chimney Rock.” Forsyth and Paddock speculate that Biscuit may have ridden off inadvertently or been picked up by someone who took him for a stray.

Paddock requested her Montford neighbors to “Please check your car, basement, crawlspace, garage, shed, under the porch, etc. – he often gets in places he shouldn’t! Please call 828.768.3115 if you see him.”

A reward has been offered for his safe return.
